A free one-day trip around the world in Huntsville: a parade of nations, global performances, food from dozens of countries and hands-on activities for kids. When iFest happens and how to plan your visit.
iFest, the International Festival of North Alabama, is Huntsville's one-day trip around the world. Dozens of countries set up displays, cooks serve food from home, dancers and musicians perform on stage, and a parade of nations celebrates them all. It's free, it's family-friendly, and it's one of the best ways to see how international the Rocket City really is.
Who Runs It
iFest is the signature event of the International Society of Huntsville, a community organization dedicated to celebrating the cultural heritage, traditions and diversity of Huntsville and North Alabama. Since 2010 the Society has brought in more than 60 countries, from Poland, Nigeria and Taiwan to Panama, Ghana, the Philippines, Ukraine and Vietnam, and it adds new nations most years. The 2025 festival welcomed Cameroon, Armenia, Portugal and Venezuela for the first time.
The festival has had community backing too. The 2025 edition was supported by an Arts IDEA Grant from Arts Huntsville, funded by the City of Huntsville.
When It Happens
iFest is a single Saturday in late September or early October. The 2025 festival was Saturday, October 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the 2026 festival was Saturday, September 26, from noon to 5 p.m. The dates box at the top of this page shows the next festival as soon as it's announced.
Where It Is
The venue has changed over the years. In 2025 iFest was held at the Jaycee Community Building. For 2026 it moved to The Orion Amphitheater at 701 Amphitheater Drive NW, in the MidCity District. Check the festival's announcement each year to confirm where it lands.
Admission
Free. There's no admission charge, and parking has been free too. At The Orion in 2026, free parking for community events was provided courtesy of Woody Anderson Ford. Bring a way to pay for food and market purchases.
What to Expect
- The Parade of Nations: participants from every represented country, and all countries are welcome to join.
- Global performances: folk dance, traditional instrumental music, song, fashion and martial arts.
- The Culinary Caravan: food from around the world, which the organizers fairly describe as foodie heaven.
- An open-air market modeled on a global bazaar, with international vendors.
- The International Showcase: booths with cultural artifacts, traditional clothing, photos, handicrafts and history from each country.
- Kids' activities: free hands-on activities for children of all ages.
Getting There and Parking
At The Orion Amphitheater, use the venue's on-site parking, which was free for iFest in 2026. If the festival changes venues again, the organizers post parking details with the announcement. Lawn chairs and blankets were welcome in 2025, so bring something to sit on for the performances.
Tips
- Come hungry and share. Splitting dishes with friends lets you sample more countries.
- Catch the parade. The Parade of Nations is the moment the whole festival comes together.
- Bring the kids. The activities are free and built for all ages.
- Want to represent your homeland? The International Society of Huntsville invites people to join and bring their country to the next festival.
