Alabama Constitution Hall Park
A living-history park on the site of Alabama's 1819 constitutional convention, with period buildings and costumed guides.

Where Alabama Was Written
Alabama Constitution Hall Park is at 109 Gates Avenue SE and sits on the site of the state's first constitutional convention. On July 5, 1819, forty-four delegates gathered in a vacant cabinet shop, and they spent a little less than a month writing the constitution that made Alabama the twenty-second state. It was ratified on August 2.
The Park Today
The site is a living-history museum with sixteen structures built to reflect the years between 1805 and 1819, and four buildings restored on their original foundations: Constitution Hall, the Clay building, the Boardman Complex, and the Neal House. Guides in period costume lead visitors through the working village. It is run by EarlyWorks and is best suited to adults and children ages nine and up.
Coffee Stop
Piper and Leaf has a shop on the grounds, and the Weeden House Museum is a short walk away in Twickenham.
