Neighborhood Guide
Five Points

About Five Points
Five Points is a historic district about a mile from downtown, known for restored bungalows and cottages, friendly front porches, and a handful of local restaurants that have been around for a long time. It has become one of the popular in-town neighborhoods in recent years, with new development mixed in among the older homes.
The Neighborhood
Houses here date largely to the early 1900s, in Victorian, Bungalow, Cape Cod, and Ranch styles. The streets are walkable and the mix of renovated and untouched homes gives it a lived-in feel. It sits between downtown and the base of Monte Sano, so you are minutes from both.
Where to Eat
Big Ed's Pizza on Pratt Avenue has been serving hand-tossed pizza and calzones since 1961, run today by the founder's children, and still bakes in gas ovens from the 1960s. Thai Garden on Wellman Avenue is the pick for Thai. Olde Towne Coffee Shoppe on Pratt Avenue has been pouring espresso drinks since 1998 in an eclectic setting with breakfast and sandwiches.
Getting Out on the Mountain
The best thing about Five Points is how close it is to the outdoors. From here you can be at Monte Sano State Park or Burritt on the Mountain in a short drive, then back for pizza in time for dinner.
